Alfred swivel cup

Friedrich Alfred Schwenkenbecher (born September 12, 1875 in Erfurt , † March 8, 1963 in Marburg ) was a German internist and university professor.

Swivel beaker studied medicine . During his studies he became a member of the Germania Jena fraternity in the winter semester of 1894/95 . He received his doctorate from the University of Marburg in 1900 . There he became associate professor and head of the polyclinic in 1907 . He was a diet specialist . In 1914 he was appointed full professor for internal medicine at the newly founded University of Frankfurt am Main . In 1922/23 he was rector of the University of Marburg. Internist Paul Schölmerich was one of his students .

In the Third Reich, Schwenkenbecher was chairman of the German internists. In November 1933 he signed the German professors' confession of Adolf Hitler . On April 20, 1936, he was responsible for the Reichsärztekongress, which was supposed to combine “German” naturopathy with conventional medicine. He was skeptical of the Reichsärzteführer Gerhard Wagner because of the " New German Medicine " project .

In 1956 he was made an honorary member of the German Society for Internal Medicine .
