Alfred Zschorsch (born September 24, 1887 in Erfurt ; † July 26, 1956 in Düsseldorf - Kaiserswerth ) was a German sculptor .

Live and act

After studying sculpture at the Leipzig Art Academy from 1904 to 1910 , he initially worked in Munich and Berlin . From 1922 he lived in Düsseldorf and soon became the owner of the house at Kölner Strasse 15 on the corner of Börnestrasse. and got a studio in the new building of the art academy in Golzheim. In 1937 Zschorch was one of the sculptors commissioned to create the Estates when planning the Reich Exhibition, the Creative People , and moved into his “House for a Married Sculptor” with a spacious studio. The house was built by the architect HN Schröder at Dietrich-Eckart -Platz 1, today Albrecht-von-Hagen -Platz, in the model housing estate Schlageterstadt, today Golzheimer Siedlung. Zschorch was a member of the National Socialist German Workers' Party . Since 1948 he was a member of the Heimatverein Düsseldorfer Jonges and for many years in the artists' association Malkasten .

Alfred Zschorsch was buried in the north cemetery.

The father Theodor Zschorsch was a builder and architect in Leipzig. His brother Walter Zschorsch (1888–1965), also studied at the Art Academy in Leipzig, and became a sculptor and painter. His works include the youth memorial in Leipzig (decommissioned), which was dedicated to the Hitler Youth , and bronze busts of Hermann Göring , Rudolf Hess and Dr. Ley .

In 1938 he received the Düsseldorf Gaukulturpreis for his sculptures.
