Alfredo Ramos (football player, 1924)

Alfredo Ramos Castilho , also known as Alfredo or Polvo (born October 27, 1924 in Jacareí ; † July 31, 2012 ), was a Brazilian football player and coach.

Athletic career

Alfredo played for FC Santos from 1945 or 1947 . In 1950 the defensive player moved to São Paulo FC . There he won the Campeonaro Paulista , the state championship of São Paulo in 1953 . After 315 games, he moved to Corinthians São Paulo in 1957 , where he ended his active career after 33 games in late 1959.

1953 Alfredo was appointed to the Brazilian national team for the first time . He was part of the squad at the 1954 World Cup finals the following year , but was not used during the tournament. He played a total of nine international matches .

In 1972 Alfredo returned to São Paulo FC for one season as head coach. At the end of the season, the team was runner-up in the state championship, although they had not lost in the course of the season. In the Copa Libertadores 1972 , the team missed the final with one point behind CA Independiente in the second group stage.
