Algirdas Vaclovas Patackas (born September 28, 1943 in Trakai , † April 3, 2015 in Kaunas ) was a Lithuanian politician.

Life

After graduating from the 14th Kaunas Middle School, Patackas graduated from the Kaunas Technical University with a degree in technology from 1960 to 1965 and then was an aspirant and research assistant at the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences . From 1966 he worked in the Azotas chemical plant in the Jonava district . From 1982 he was a worker in the melioration . From 1986 to 1987 he was in prison for working as an editor of banned newspapers such as Lietuvos ateitis and Pastogė. Patackas taught ethics and Baltic culture at the Technical University of Kaunas and the Vytautas Magnus University of Kaunas . From 1990 to 2000 and from 2012 to 2015 he was a member of the Seimas . In 1992 he was elected to the list of the Sąjūdis freedom movement in Žaliakalnis and in 2012 with the populist party Drąsos kelias .

Patackas died in Kaunas University Hospital at the age of 71 .

His grave is in the Petrašiūnai Cemetery , Kaunas.
