Ali Hasan Abunimah (born December 29, 1971 in Washington, DC ) is a Palestinian - American journalist.

Life

Abunimah's mother is originally from Lifta , near Jerusalem, and became a refugee in 1948. His father is from Battir , a village in the West Bank ; he was a Jordanian diplomat who served as an envoy for the United Nations . Abunimah is a graduate of Princeton University and the University of Chicago and a frequent commentator on the Middle East. He is a regular contributor to the Chicago Tribune and the Los Angeles Times .

He is co-founder of the Electronic Intifada (see also: Intifada ), a pro-Palestinian lobby organization that claims to counter an alleged “pro-Israel list in the American mainstream media” by offering “information from a Palestinian perspective”. He was also Vice President of the Arab American Action Network . He lives in Chicago , Illinois.

Abunimah is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign.

Publications

Abunimah is the author of the book One Country: A Bold Proposal to End the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict , published in October 2006 , in which he advocates a one-state solution . In his publications he sharply criticizes Israeli policy in the occupied territories.
