Adnan Kadhim started playing club soccer at the Iraqi Ammo Baba School soccer school . Later he went through the youth departments of al-Zawraa SC and al-Quwa al-Dschawiya , before he moved to the youth department of Baghdad FC in 2009. In the summer of 2010 he took part in the training with the professionals of Baghdad FC and was carefully built up. After completing a few short missions, he won a regular place in the course of the 2012/13 season.

He drew attention to himself through his performance during the U-20 World Cup in 2013 and was long associated with clubs such as Galatasaray Istanbul in July 2013. According to Adnan Kadhim, he had already come to an agreement with Galatasaray, but the move failed during Galatasaray's negotiations with Baghdad FC. After the failed move to the Istanbul team , the new Turkish first division club Çaykur Rizespor announced the commitment of Adnan Kadhim in August 2013. He signed a five-year contract with Rizespor.

In the summer of 2015, Adnan moved to the Italian club Udinese Calcio for a transfer fee of 2 million euros . He thus became the first Iraqi player in Serie A play.

On August 17, 2018, Adnan was awarded to Atalanta Bergamo .
