Ali Khamraev

Ali Ergaschewitsch Khamraev ( Russian Али Эргашевич Хамраев ; Uzbek Ali Ergashevich Hamroyev ; born May 19, 1937 in Tashkent , Uzbek SSR ) is an Uzbek director and screenwriter who celebrated his greatest successes during the Soviet Union . So far he has made over 30 documentaries and 20 feature films.

life and career

Ali Khamraev was born in Tashkent in 1937 as the son of a Tajik and a Ukrainian . Both parents worked in the film industry, his father died in 1942 in World War II . Ali Khamraev attended the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography in Moscow , where he graduated in 1961. In the same year his first film was released, Malenkije istorii o detjach, kotoryje . In 1964 Khamraev succeeded with the comedy Where are you, my sulfija? with Bakhtijor Ichtijarow in the lead role a first great success. Other films by Khamraev included the Soviet wests Red Sand (1968), Tatort Tashkent (1969) and The Seventh Ball (1972), all of which were also broadcast in the GDR. In 1979 he achieved another success with The Bodyguard , with Alexander Kaidanowski in the lead role. In Hot Summer in Kabul (1983) he dealt with the Soviet Union's war in Afghanistan . His last film in the Soviet Union was Sad zhelaniy , released in 1987 . He then went to Italy to film Tamerlan the Great and finally settled there, but was soon commuting back and forth between Uzbekistan, Moscow and Italy. In 1998 he directed Bo Ba Bu for the first time again, and the film won an award for best score at the Shanghai International Film Festival . In the Russian detective series Mesto pod solnzem , broadcast in 2004 , Khamrajew also took over the position of director again. He now lives in Moscow.

Khamraev was friends with Ergash Karimov and Tolomush Okeev .
