Ali Mohammad Bescharati

Ali Mohammad Bescharati (also Ali-Mohammad Besharati , Persian علی‌ محمد بشارتی جهرمی; * 1945 in Jahrom ) is an Iranian politician . He was Interior Minister and Deputy Foreign Minister.

Life

Ali Mohammad Bescharati studied medicine and was imprisoned for five years under the Shah . After the Islamic Revolution in 1979, Bescharati became a member of parliament . He also served as an adviser to President Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani .

From 1993 to 1997 Bescharati was Minister of the Interior. Its main task was to organize the electoral process. Besharati appointed Mahmoud Ahmadineschād as governor. He then worked in a center for strategic studies.
