Sadeq Mahsuli

Sadeq or Sadegh Mahsuli ( Persian صادق محصولی; * 1959 ) is a former commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and was Iranian Interior Minister in the government of Mahmoud Ahmadineschād from November 18, 2008 to September 3, 2009 ; in the vote in the Iranian parliament he received 138 votes, 112 against and 20 abstentions.

Mahsuli studied engineering and economics at the University of Tehran , was a commander in the First Gulf War , then governor of Urmia province and campaign manager of Ahmadinejad during the 2005 presidential election . Mahsuli was considered one of the president's closest confidants. Before his close election as interior minister, Mahsuli was slated to serve as minister for the Iranian oil ministry, but was rejected by parliament because of his unclear financial situation. In the 2009 presidential election , he was the interior minister and election officer responsible for conducting and monitoring the election. He announced the turnout and the result of the election.
