Ali Kordan ( Persian علی کردان; * 1958 (?); † November 22, 2009 in Tehran ) was an Iranian politician. He was Deputy Minister for Petroleum and Minister of the Interior of his country from August 4 to November 4, 2008.

Kordan was removed from office by the Majles with 188 votes in favor, 45 against and 14 abstentions. Impeachment was initiated when it became known that Kordan was wrongly holding an honorary doctorate , by means of a false certificate from June 2000, from the prestigious University of Oxford . The university stated that Ali Kordan did not receive an honorary doctorate or degree at Oxford. In a letter to President Mahmoud Ahmadineschād , Kordan stated that he had received the document through an intermediary through whom he had also submitted his dissertation. "The question of the authenticity of the doctorate never crossed my mind," Kordan said in the letter. It was also announced that Kordan, who was a university professor in Iran , said he had completed a degree at the University of Tehran . The University of Tehran contradicted this claim.

Ali Kordan died on November 22, 2009 of complications from a brain disease.
