Mostafa Pour-Mohammadi ( Persian مصطفی پورمحمدی Mustafa Purmohammadi ; * 1959 in Qom , Iran ) is a conservative Iranian clergyman and politician . He bears the religious title Hodschatoleslam and was Interior Minister of Iranunder President Ahmadinejad from 2005 to April 9, 2008.

Life

During the mass execution of political prisoners in Iran from 1988 on political prisoners in the final year of the First Gulf War , he was Deputy Minister of Intelligence. Both the “Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran” (AAdnWI), which consists of Iranians in exile, and government agencies in the USA therefore assign him joint responsibility for the events of that time. In connection with the Iranian Information and Intelligence Minister Gholamhossein Mohseni-Eschei , Pour-Mohammadi u. a. accused by the non-governmental organization Human Rights Watch of being involved in the chain and other murders of dissidents .

Hodschatoleslam Pour-Mohammadi is an advocate of temporary marriage, which is permitted under Shiite law in Iran and guarantees a temporary marriage - from one hour to 99 years. This practice is seen by critics as the religious legitimation of prostitution .

On October 10, 2006, Pour-Mohammadi took part in the meeting of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Geneva, Switzerland.

He was nominated as Justice Minister by the new Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in August 2013 and elected Justice Minister on August 15, 2013 with 201 votes in favor and 64 against, with 19 abstentions from the Majles in Tehran . He was in office until 2017.

In February 2020, it was announced that he had been infected with the coronavirus.
