Gholamhossein Mohseni-Esche'i (also Ezhei and Ejei , Persian غلامحسین محسنی اژه‌ای Gholamhossein Mohseni-Eschei , DMG Ġolām-Ḥosein Moḥsenī Eže'ī [ ɢoˌlɔːmhoˈseɪ̯n mohseˈniː eʒɛˈiː ]; * 1956 in Eschiye) is an Iranian clergyman with the title Hodschatoleslam , politician and former minister.

politics

Prior to his appointment as Minister of Intelligence , Gholamhossein Mohseni-Eschei was chairman of the Special Court for the Clergy in Iran.

Mohseni-Eschei was a member of the 1st cabinet of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadineschād until July 25, 2009 . As an ultra-conservative, Ahmadineschad filled key positions with Manutschehr Mottaki and Mostafa Pour-Mohammadi with his confidants in the cabinet. In connection with the protests after the Iranian presidential elections in 2009 , Mohseni-Eschei spoke of attacks that were thwarted in two stages by arrests.

Mohseni-Eschei was appointed attorney general by the new head of justice, Sadegh Larijani , on August 24, 2009 , replacing Ghorbanali Dorri-Najafabadi .

Participation in death sentences

Due to the lack of separation of powers , judges, especially those of the Revolutionary Courts, often bow to the Ministry of Intelligence's demands for harsh punishment, especially in the case of members of minorities. For example, due to a 7-minute trial before Section 30 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, the Kurdish elementary school teacher Farzad Kamangar was sentenced to death without legal counsel in the summer of 2008 at the request of Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Eschei and executed in 2010 in Evin Prison in Tehran.

Gholamhossein Mohseni-Eschei has been on the sanctions list of the European Council since 2011 with people who are not allowed to travel to Europe, whose private assets are frozen in Europe and who are prohibited from using European airlines. This entry is justified with the responsibility of Mohseni-Eschei for “torture and extortion of false confessions under pressure from hundreds of activists, journalists, dissidents and reform politicians as well as his responsibility for intolerable interrogations, which resulted in torture, ill-treatment, extortion and threats against family members came, ”in which those affected“ were forced to make false confessions ”.

On August 7, 2016, Gholamhossein Mohseni-Eschei confirmed the execution of the nuclear physicist Shahram Amiris on the basis of a previous conviction of espionage.
