Jahrom ( Persian جهرم) is a city in Fars Province in Iran . It is located 190 km southeast of Shiraz .
The city is first mentioned in the form of Zarham in the verse novel Kārnāmak-i Artaxšer-i Pāpākān , written in Middle Persian , about the reign of the ruler Ardaschir I , and is also mentioned several times in the Shāhnāme of Firdausi . Presumably the name means "green land".
The mainly agricultural city with its tropical and subtropical vegetation produces mainly dates , citrus fruits and wheat today . Carpets are also made here .
The Sang Shekan Cave is located south of Jahrom .
