Ali Riza Kaya

Ali Riza Kaya (* 1930 in Turkey ) is a Hamburg restaurateur and author of cookbooks on Turkish cuisine . He wrote the first Turkish cookbook in German, which received more attention and was also the operator of the first Turkish restaurant in Hamburg .

Live and act

In 1968, Kaya opened his Turkish restaurant called At Nali in the Rotherbaum university district of Hamburg , at that time the first in the Hanseatic city . Who together with his wife run business became the meeting place for the student scene and also from NDR - celebrities such as peer Augustinski , Hanne Haller , Mike Krueger , Freddy Quinn , Dagmar Berghoff , Inge Meysel and Johannes B. Kerner .

From 1980 Kaya published several cookbooks about Turkish cuisine, which were very successful and some of them were published in high editions and were also translated into Dutch . The works contributed to making traditional Turkish country cuisine known in Germany.

At the age of 71, Kaya ended his job as a restaurateur. At Nali restaurant was closed after 33 years.
