Alice Sz. Burger

Alice Szászné Burger (* 1925 ) is a Hungarian provincial Roman archaeologist .

Live and act

Alice Sz. Burger studied at the Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest and graduated with a diploma .

From 1949 to 1950 she worked for the National Center for Museums and Monuments, from 1951 to 1982 she worked at the Hungarian National Museum in Budapest, where she headed the Soil Research Department, among other things . Several joint publications emerged from her collaboration with General Director Ferenc Fülep . In 1959 she was with a dissertation on the archeology of the ancient doctorate ; In 1981 her candidate dissertation on late Roman money circulation was published in Pannonia .

Her areas of work are provincial Roman archeology, in particular the province of Pannonia and the ancient city of Aquincum , the investigation of burial rituals and burial grounds , monument research and numismatics . She participated in excavations in the counties of Baranya , Tolna and Somogy and worked on the projects Tabula Imperii Romani , Corpus Signorum Imperii Romani and The Roman Inscriptions of Hungary , and she also published supplements to the Corpus Inscriptionum Latinarum .

For several years she was the editor of the Régészeti Füzetek ( Archaeological Notebooks ) of the Hungarian National Museum.
