Alizarin violet is a synthetic organic dye from the group of the anthraquinones , more precisely the quinizarin derivatives. The color is a reddish purple, undiluted a very pure and deep tone. The dye is moderately to sufficiently lightfast.

In older literature, the substance known today as pyrogallolphthalein was also referred to as alizarin violet.
