Alkane Nallbani

Alkan Nallbani (born February 12, 1971 in Berat ) is an Albanian artist who mainly paints and draws . He lives and works in Tribeca ( New York City ) and Florence .

Career

Alkan Nallbani began to gain artistic experience at the age of eight and at only 17 he was one of the most valued students of his year at the University of the Arts in Tirana , where he successfully graduated in 1994. Nallbani became involved artistically, culturally and politically very early on. He took part in the student protests in Tirana in 1990/91, which overthrew the dictatorial regime in Albania .

In 1996 Nallbani emigrated to Italy , where he has lived and worked in Florence ever since . Between 1998 and 2000 he studied there at the Accademia di Belle Arti .

He later settled in Lower Manhattan , where he lives and works in the Tribeca neighborhood. Between 2005 and 2006 he studied at Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, DC

Exhibitions (selection)

Alkan Nallbani was able to present his work at various exhibitions, especially in Albania, Italy and the United States . The most important were the Prague Biennale 2009 in Prague and the Harnett Biennial in 2010 at the Virginia Museum of Fine Art in Richmond , Virginia . Works (selection)

Most of Nallbani’s artistic works are characterized by expressionist influences. The majority of his work is devoted to Albanian life, but the protagonists are anonymous. The color composition is often energetic and of a light tone. The latest works show more flowers, plants and trees.
