Alkathoos ( Greek Ἀλκάθοος ) from Troy is a figure in Greek mythology .
Homer reported on Alkathoos in his Iliad . He was accordingly the son of Aisyetes , husband of Hippodameia (the eldest daughter of Anchises ), brother-in-law and tutor of Aeneas . In the Trojan War he was one of the Trojan leaders. He was paralyzed and blinded by Poseidon so that he could be more easily killed by Idomeneus , King of Crete .
