Alkynols
Alkynols ( hydroxyalkynes ) are organic-chemical compounds which are derived from alkynes and are alcohols . Accordingly, they have a C≡C triple bond and a hydroxyl group as structural features . With two hydroxyl groups, they are called alkynediols (e.g. 2-butyne-1,4-diol ). They are important as intermediate products in the chemical industry.
This group includes:
- 2-propyn-1-ol - basic chemical substance
- 3-butyn-1-ol
- 5-hexyn-1-ol
presentation
It can be prepared by ethynylation of carbonyl compounds; the reaction usually takes place in liquid ammonia. Acetone reacts with ethyne to form 2-methyl-3-butyn-2-ol .
