content
Johannes Waller is to become Germany's foreign minister . However, an affair with the wife of the Austrian ambassador puts this in danger, whereupon he tries to reach out to the Chancellor to get this affair out of the world.
On the way to her, however, he causes an accident in the small Brandenburg village of Kudrow and is treated by doctor Barbara Heinen , who gives him a tranquilizer. When the politician wakes up the next day, the Chancellor can no longer be reached and the post of Foreign Minister has already been assigned elsewhere.
Since he felt betrayed by his party friends and his political career had ended, he accepted the post of mayor of the small Brandenburg village of Kudrow. The following episodes show how the formerly successful politician moves around the down-to-earth inhabitants of the village. The crux of the series relates to the fact that Waller always wants to introduce something spectacular into the village, but something is always preventing it. Be it the fact that he wants to make Kudrow a place of pilgrimage or wants to build a new power plant in Kudrow, something always goes wrong.
Ultimately, he was offered the office of Prime Minister of Brandenburg. In order to win the election campaign against his competitor Müller, the still incumbent Brandenburg Interior Minister, he wants to draw attention to himself with a staged PR campaign - with the help of two reporters. At the same time, a gastrointestinal disease is circulating in Kudrow, which reporters, who annoyed Waller during a discussion, hyped up as an epidemic. Prime Minister Müller takes advantage of this and puts all of Kudrow under quarantine. This means that Waller cannot be nominated by the Chancellor as a surprise guest and thus loses the election - he remains mayor in Kudrow.
