Allen Heath

Allen Heath (born January 3, 1918 in Saskatoon , Saskatchewan , † March 6, 1981 in Northridge , California ) was a Canadian racing car driver .

Career

Heath was born in Canada but moved to Seattle with his family in 1922 . In 1938 he began to compete in midget car races and drove numerous victories and championship titles. In 1953 he lost his left hand in an accident. Nevertheless, even after the accident, he still managed to win numerous midget car races and even a championship in 1958.

He started in four races for the AAA National Series in 1952 and 1953 . His best result was a second place in Detroit in 1953 in a Kurtis Kraft - Offenhauser .

In 1952 and 1953 he tried unsuccessfully to qualify for the Indianapolis 500 miles .

He died of a heart attack in 1981.
