Allende is a city in the Mexican state of Coahuila . The city is the administrative seat for the surrounding municipality of Allende.
history
It is named after Ignacio Allende , a hero of the Mexican War of Independence . Before 1832 the settlement was called San Juan de Mata.
Allende was founded on March 16, 1826 by decree. At first the place was called San Juan de Mata but was renamed on March 16, 1832 on the initiative of the later President of the Republic, Don Melchor Múzquiz, in honor of Ignacio Allende. Around a hundred years later, the town received city rights on July 23, 1927. The urban area covered an area of 198.7 square kilometers.
geography
Allende is located in the north of the state of Coahuila on Carretera Federal 57, about 55 km south of the international border crossing Piedras Negras, Coahuila . Allende is crossed by the railway line that connects the capital Saltillo in the south with Ciudad Acuña on the border with the United States.
In the northeast of Allende lies Nava, in the southeast the village of Villa Unión and to the southwest the villages Nueva Rosita and Sabinas.
