The Allyn River is a river in the east of the Australian state of New South Wales .

It rises below Careys Peak in Barrington Tops National Park . From there it flows south and flows into the Paterson River at Vacy .

On its course the Allyn River crosses the Gondwana rainforest with large Antarctic beeches ( Nothofagus moorei ) and further down the somewhat lower subtropical rainforest with red cedars ( Toona cilata ) and small-leaved fig trees ( Ficus obliqua ). Some of the river oaks ( Casuarina cunninghamiana ) are over 50 meters high. Logging has been taking place in this area since the 1820s.
