Aloe florenceae is a species of the genus Aloes in the subfamily of the Affodilla plants (Asphodeloideae). The specific epithet florenceae honors Florence Razafindratsira, the wife of Alfred Razafindratsira, who discovered the species.

Vegetative characteristics

Aloe florenceae grows without a trunk, is only sparsely branched and forms clumps of up to five rosettes . The up to 40 triangular, pointed leaves are ascending or upright. Their dark green to brownish leaf blades are 3 to 4 inches long and 0.9 to 1.1 inches wide. It is covered with warts, each of which has a 0.75 millimeter long papilla . The soft teeth on the edge of the leaf are 1 millimeter long and 1.2 millimeters apart.

Inflorescences and flowers

The simple inflorescence reaches a length of 30 centimeters. The short conical grapes consist of eight to 22 flowers. The whitish, brown-veined, lanceolate bracts have a length of 22 millimeters and are 10 millimeters wide. The cream-colored to pink-brown, cylindrical, slightly curved flowers are on very short pedicels . The flowers are 27 to 30 millimeters long and 5 millimeters in diameter. Your outer tepals are not fused together over a length of 10 to 12 millimeters. The stamens protrude short and the stylus protrudes 6 millimeters from the flower.

Systematics and distribution

Aloe florenceae is common in Madagascar in the western part of the central highlands.
