Alois Knoepfler

Alois Knoepfler (born August 29, 1847 in Schomburg (Wangen im Allgäu) ; † July 14, 1921 there ) was a German Roman Catholic theologian and church historian . He was a full professor for church history in Munich .

Life

His father was Franz Xaver Knöpfler and his mother Krescentia Knöpfler nee. Fugel. From 1868 Knoepfler studied Roman Catholic theology and philosophy at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Tübingen . On August 3, 1874, he was ordained a priest in Rottenburg am Neckar . From 1876 he was a member of the Catholic student union AV Guestfalia Tübingen .

From 1886 Knoepfler was a full professor for church history at the theological faculty of the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and founded the church history seminar there. In the academic years 1893/1894 and 1911/1912 he was rector of the university. In 1914, Knoepfler signed the 93 . In 1917 he ended his professional career at the University of Munich and went into retirement.

Knoepfler died on July 14, 1921 in his native Schomburg.
