Alois Kracher

Alois Kracher (born February 23, 1959 - † December 5, 2007 in Illmitz , Burgenland , Austria ) was one of the most successful winemakers in Austria. “Luis” became world famous for its noble sweet wines.

biography

Kracher first studied chemistry and worked as a chemist in the pharmaceutical industry. From 1986 he worked for the family's wine-growing business in Illmitz, Burgenland. He caused a first big stir in 1991 with his sweet wines . Since 1994 he has received numerous awards for his wines and has been chosen six times by Wine Magazine for Winemaker of the Year . In New York alone, its sweet and dessert wines are served in 400 restaurants. Alois Kracher was the first Austrian to receive 100 points for his wines from the wine critic Robert Parker . He was called the "leading figure of the Austrian wine industry ".

Alois Kracher died of complications from a pancreatic tumor . He leaves behind his wife Michaela Kracher and his son Gerhard. Gerhard Kracher, born in 1981, who has been involved in the work of the wine-growing business since his youth, continues this.
