Alois Rainer (politician, 1921)

Alois Rainer (born June 16, 1921 in Untergrub ; † March 14, 2002 in Haibach ) was a German farmer , innkeeper and politician ( CSU ).

Life and work

Rainer was born the son of a farmer. After attending primary school and an agricultural vocational school, he worked on his parents' farm. He took part in World War II as a war volunteer from 1939 to 1945, served in the Air Force and later became a paratrooper. Towards the end of the war he was captured.

After his release from captivity, Rainer completed an apprenticeship as a butcher. In 1947 he took over the management of a butcher's business with an attached restaurant and farm. Rainer's daughter Gerda Hasselfeldt was Federal Minister from 1989 to 1992 and Vice President of the German Bundestag from 2005 to 2011, his son Alois Georg Josef has been Mayor of Haibach since 1996 and a member of the Bundestag since 2013.

Political party

Rainer joined the CSU in 1948 and was later elected deputy chairman of the CSU district association in Straubing .

MP

From 1952 to 1972 Rainer was a member of the district council of the Bogen district and since 1960 district chairman of the Bavarian Community Assembly for Lower Bavaria . From 1958 until his resignation on October 21, 1965, he was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament . He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1965 to 1983. In parliament he represented the Bundestag constituency of Straubing .

Public offices

Rainer has been mayor of the Haibach community since 1948 .
