Alone (Engl. For Alone ) is a song by Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly and their music project I-Ten. It appeared on their only album, Taking A Cold Look , in 1983 .

The American rock band Heart recorded the piece in 1987. It was released as a single in May 1987 and on the Bad Animals album . The hard rock - ballad was in the United States and Canada, a number-one hit. The song begins with a piano melody; then Ann Wilson starts singing and the dramatic love song reaches its climax. According to a Songfacts interview with Steinberg, Kelly sang the harmonic sections during the demo recording.

A live version of Bad Animals appeared on the B-side of Alone . An unplugged version of the song appeared on their 1995 album The Road Home. In the music video for the title, the band plays the piece live on stage. They sing in the playback.
