Alphonse Welin Qorig (born July 7, 1981 in Vanuatu ) is a Vanuatu football player on the position of midfielder . Between 2002 and 2008, he made at least 19 caps and four goals for his home country .

Career

Alphonse Welin Qorig was born on July 7, 1981 in the South Pacific island state of Vanuatu and has played for the Vanuatu first division club Shepherds United in the capital Port Vila since at least 2002 . It was at this time that he was used for the first time in the national team of his home country . This year he played in at least four international matches, including three as a substitute, and was regularly called up for the national team in the following years. He was an often used player , especially in 2004 during the qualification for the 2006 World Cup . With the team he was able to prevail in the group phase and came as the winner of Group 2 in the second qualifying round, where the team, however, occupied the last of six places. In the mid-2000s he joined league rivals Tafea FC and played for them as Vanuatu champions in the OFC Champions League . He was also successful as a goalscorer in the 2007/08 OFC Champions League , where he made it with his team as a winner of the qualification into the group stage. In this phase, which was limited to two groups with three teams each, the team lost to the group winners from the Solomon Islands , Kossa FC , and came in second ahead of the Fijian club BA FC . Kossa FC, in turn, won the first leg 3-1 in the final, but lost 5-0 in the second leg against New Zealand club Waitakere United . After that, he was in the Vanuatu national team until at least 2008 and completed a few players in the qualification for the 2010 World Cup . Nothing is known about his whereabouts.
