Alte Sau is a Hamburg punk band around Jens Rachut .
Band history
It was founded in 2013 and consists of Raoul Doré (drums), Rebecca Oehms (organ, synthesizer, vocals) and Jens Rachut (vocals). The band complements Rachut's last two projects Nuclear Raped Fuck Bomb and Kommando Sonne-nmilch with a band from the field of electronic music . The band dispenses with guitar and bass and only gets by with a home organ and rudimentary drums . On June 20, 2014, the self-titled debut album was released on the major label . A female choir consisting of three women is represented as guests with “The Siberian Folds”.
In 2016 a split EP followed with the Viennese band Lime Crush on the label Fettkakao and the second album To Be As Livin ' , again on major labels. A three-member male choir is also used on the second album.
Music genre
Musically, Alte Sau is based on the early Neue Deutsche Welle , the lyrics are in the typical Rachut manner, very dark and composed of individual fragments.
The Spiegel reviewer Jan Wigger described the debut album as "[e] in a strangely catchy hybrid of Rachut's sometimes sullen, grumpy complaints as a Mark E. Smith -like angry grandpa (...) and the really lovely choir The Siberian Folds (Swantje , Pirri and Eva), who leads "Böse Winde" and "Paula Scheiße" together with Rebecca Oehms' organ to a secret place, in which Stereolab suddenly publish relevant material again. “ Alte Sau was featured in Ox-Fanzine from August / September 2014 named one of the eight albums of the month ("Top of the Ox").
In the intro , Linus Volkmann wrote:
"Alte Sau (with Rebecca Oehms and Raoul Doré) don't just break through, they rely on good songwriting, Jens put a female voice at the side (which always represented the best, but also the rarest moments of the early Grandma-Hans things) and have a beautiful organ, which in turn audibly links Alte Sau with the great times of Dachshund blood . Sorry for this nerdy reference boost, but to distinguish Rachut from Rachut, there is nothing left except the details. The album should therefore be briefly summarized for all onlookers: Very, very cool. Save your life or more. "
