The old cemetery of Oberdollendorf , a district of the city of Königswinter in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia , was laid out in 1852. It stands as a monument under monument protection .

location

The cemetery is located above the town center at about 85  m above sea level. NHN and an area that rises to the south with the so-called "Rennenberg". It stretches between Rennenbergstrasse in the southwest (entrance) and Heisterbacher Strasse in the northeast and adjoins the former school (race mountainstrasse 3) in the southeast.

history

The cemetery was created in 1852 as a replacement for the previous churchyard of the Catholic parish church of St. Laurentius . At that time it was located outside the village on the road connection between Niederdollendorf and Oberpleis (today's Rennenbergstraße); Around 1870, today's Heisterbacher Strasse was built along the north side of the cemetery, which from now on took up this road connection.

Since the beginning of the 20th century, the cemetery had two double entrance gates with bars made of iron bars that had been made by a local art and tool smith. They had in each case in the middle handforged Rosenranken with an in forms of Rococo executed ornamental rosette and on the upper ends faithfully replicated rose petals. In 1962 the pillars of the entrance gates were rebuilt and the gate grilles were replaced in the process.

The cemetery was entered in the monuments list of the city of Königswinter on July 23, 1991. Today, Oberdollendorf has a second cemetery with the “forest cemetery” at the upper end of the town in the direction of Heisterbacherrott referred to as.
