Old Jewish Cemetery (Old Saarbrücken)
The old Jewish cemetery in Saarbrücken , the capital of Saarland , was laid out in 1841. The Jewish cemetery on Graf-Simon-Strasse and the corner of Komturstrasse is a protected cultural monument .
history
The Jewish community of Saarbrücken buried its dead in Forbach until 1840 . The inauguration was on February 21, 1841, combined with the first two funerals. The oldest surviving tombstone dates from 1841.
Today 179 tombstones ( mazewot ) are still preserved in the cemetery.
