Old Town Hall (Dinkelsbühl)
The old town hall in Dinkelsbühl , a town in the Central Franconian district of Ansbach ( Bavaria ), was essentially built in the 14th century. The former town hall at Altrathausplatz 14 is a protected architectural monument .
history
After the town hall on the Ledermarkt fell victim to a fire in 1483/84, the town acquired two residential buildings to use as town hall. The two buildings were connected with a gatehouse . When Dinkelsbühl lost its imperial immediacy and became part of the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1806 , the town hall had become too big. In 1855 the city administration moved into the former star restaurant at Segringer Straße 30. From 1887 the building was used as a school building.
description
The former patrician house is a three-storey four-wing complex with a saddle and half-hip roof . The unplastered rectangular building has a pointed arch portal and an outside staircase . A thorough redesign and expansion took place in the 16th century. After a fire in 1919, it was rebuilt.
Todays use
After extensive renovation work, the old town hall now houses the House of History Dinkelsbühl - Of War and Peace . The museum, inaugurated on October 18, 2008, presents the city's history with 600 exhibits .
