Altglietzen is a street village that today belongs to the town of Bad Freienwalde (Oder) in the Brandenburg district of Märkisch-Oderland in Germany .

Geographical location

The village is on federal highway 158 , about nine kilometers north of Bad Freienwalde.

history

Neolithic stone axes have been found in the area of ​​the municipality , which document a settlement around this time. Further traces of settlement in the area around Altglietzen have been found from the Iron Age and the Slavic period.

Altglietzen was mentioned for the first time in 1337. In the middle of the 14th century, the village came to the Uchtenhagen family. The village of Neuglietzen was founded in 1758, from then on the name Altglietzen became common. The current cemetery was laid out in 1837 and the church was built in 1856. After clay was found near Altglietzen in the 19th century, two brickworks were built.

Architectural monuments

Village church

The church , the rectory and the brick kiln are under monument protection.

The church of Altglietzen is slightly elevated in the middle of the village south of Chausseestrasse. The church was built in 1855 after the previous building had become dilapidated. The church was consecrated on January 30, 1856. On the south side of the church there is a tomb for the pastor Ernst Ludwig Zimmermann, who died in 1831.

The rectory is east of the church. The current house was built in 1782.

The Hietzig brickworks is located on Chausseestrasse, Bundesstrasse 158. The brickworks was built in 1871, the Hoffmann ring kiln was built in 1878.
