Neuenhagen coat of arms

Neuenhagen is a village on the island of Neuenhagen in the Märkisch-Oderland district . Since the incorporation in 2003 Neuenhagen has been a district of Bad Freienwalde (Oder) .

location

Located in the northern Oderbruch , on the edge of the Schorfheide-Chorin biosphere reserve , Neuenhagen lies together with four other districts - Schiffmühle , Bralitz , Hohenwutzen and Altglietzen - on an island surrounded by the Old Oder and the New Oder. The drainage of the Oderbruch and the breakthrough of the New Oder made Neuenhagen an island in 1753.

history

Neuenhagen Church

Archaeological finds suggest older settlement, because the climate here is fairly dry and therefore favorable for settlement.

Fixed house

Neuenhagen was first mentioned in a document in 1337, which emerged from an entry of the collection of land tax in the Neumarker Landbuch. The Neuenhagen property, which belonged to Nicolaus Witte, went to the von Mörner family of knights in 1350 . Around 1480 Caspar von Uchtenhagen and his nephew Matthias lived in Neuenhagen. In 1575 Werner von Uchtenhagen built the Feste Haus in Neuenhagen. In 1604 the rule of the Uchtenhagens ended , the property passed to the elector . In 1618 the Neuenhagen office was created, which lasted until 1872. After the Second World War , Neuenhagen, which until then was part of the Koenigsberg district of Neumark , became part of the Bad Freienwalde (Oder) district in Central Markia . In December 1993 the district became part of the greater Märkisch-Oderland district.

On October 26, 2003 Neuenhagen was incorporated into Bad Freienwalde (Oder).

Architectural monuments

There are four architectural monuments in Neuenhagen:

  • Breakfast stone: the memorial stone is located on federal highway 158 south of Neuenhagen in the direction of Altglietzen. It is reminiscent of a breakfast that Friedrich Wilhelm IV had here. The inscription reads: "Breakfast place / Sr. Majesty / of the King / Friedrich Wilhelm IV. / On January 23/1841".
  • Hoffmann's ring oven, “Regina” brickworks: the ring oven is located in the street Freienwalder Extension 2–4, north of the street Bad Freienwalde - Altglietzen . The ring furnace was probably built around 1880. It is a brick kiln in the Hoffmann style. The kiln has a closed firing channel, which consists of 20 chambers. A chimney about 40 meters high belongs to the brick oven.
  • Cemetery with village church , outbuildings (coal shed / lavatory) and enclosure: the church was inaugurated on October 24, 1902. It was built in the style of historicism , but there are also Romanesque and Gothic elements. The interior is from the construction period.
  • Permanent house (Amtshaus): the house was built around 1575 by the Uchtenhagen family to replace an older house. With the end of the Uchtenhagen rule, the house became the property of the sovereign. It was used as the office building of the newly founded domain. The office building is thus the oldest preserved secular building in the northern Oderbruch.
