Altmann von Lurngau († March 27 or April 3, 1149 in Trient ) was Bishop of Trient and the second founder of the Suben Monastery .

Altmann was the son of Count Udalschalk and Adelheid, daughter of Tuta von Formbach . Altmann was first a member of the Passau cathedral chapter before he was elected Bishop of Trento (1124–1149). With his rich heritage in Carinthia, Styria and the Innviertel, he is considered the second founder of the Suben Monastery. Around 1120 a diploma was issued, in which it says: "It is made known to all believers that Count Udalschalk and his wife Adelheid have given their (son) Altmann Suben and the altar of St. Lambert, the martyr of Christ, with everything that goes with it, so that he leaves this to the clergy who - according to the will of the ancestors - serve God there. ”In 1125 or 1126 he transferred a large number of places in Carinthia and the Innviertel to the church in Suben,“ where his parents also rest ”. In 1126 he exchanged his church in Kolbnitz with Archbishop Konrad I of Salzburg and received in return the right of baptism and burial for the church in St. Margarethen am Hengist . On February 5, 1135 he donated an altar to the church in Suben in honor of the Holy Trinity , St. Mary and all the saints. In a solemn act in 1142, Altmann subordinated the Suben monastery to the cathedral monastery of Salzburg so that it could live according to the rule of St. Augustine . Salzburg should also always appoint the new provost , who should be obeyed without objection.

In 1144/45 Altmann asked Count Ulrich von Eppan for his little castle on a hill above St. Michael an der Etsch and founded an Augustinian canon monastery there, which he probably settled with canons from Suben.

In 1146 Pope Eugene III. Suben in his special protection and confirmed all rights and possessions. Bishop Altmann still took part in negotiations in Passau in 1147. He died two years later in Trento, his body was transferred to Suben and buried next to his parents. Today there is no trace of these graves.
