Air Kyrgyzstan (formerly Altyn Air or Russian-Kyrgystan International ) is a Kyrgyz airline based in Bishkek and based at Manas Airport .

history

Former Air Kyrgyztan logo

Air Kyrgyztan was given independence by Aeroflot in 1999 as Russian-Kyrgystan International . It was not renamed Altyn Air until 2001 and began flight operations in the same year. On August 28, 2006, the airline was renamed Air Kyrgyzstan. Due to serious safety deficiencies, Air Kyrgyzstan, like all other Kyrgyz airlines, has been included in the list of operating bans for the airspace of the European Union , so that all aircraft are banned from landing in the European Union .

Air Kyrgyzstan's only active aircraft was unable to fly after a bird strike. The state-owned Kyrgyz airline therefore ceased operations on December 10, 2017. The resumption of flight operations is planned (as of March 2019).

Destinations

Air Kyrgyzstan flies to the largest cities nationally. International destinations in Central Asia and the United Arab Emirates are also served. In Germany, Frankfurt am Main and Hanover were served , but had to be canceled for an indefinite period due to the EU's entry ban.
