Alwin Fill (born November 14, 1940 in Kufstein , Tyrol ) is an Austrian linguist and emeritus professor at the University of Graz .

Life

Alwin Fill (parents Dr. Michael Fill, school teacher and Margaret Fill, born Riedlinger) graduated from grammar school Kufstein and studied from 1957 to 1965 English and Classical Philology at the University of Innsbruck . The degree took place in 1965 with a doctorate (dissertation topic: " Narrative situations in the novels of William Somerset Maugham ") and 1967 as a Magister phil. in English and Latin . From 1969 to 1970, Alwin Fill as "Florey Scholar" at the Queen's College of Oxford University and in 1973 as a "visiting scholar" at the University of Michigan , Ann Arbor ( USA operates). In 1977 he completed his habilitation at the University of Innsbruck with the habilitation thesis: " Word transparency in English and German ".
