Alwin Michael Schronen (born December 19, 1965 in Daleiden ) is a German composer , choir director and lecturer . He composes for choirs, keyboard instruments, wind and string orchestras.

biography

Alwin Michael Schronen received his first instrumental lessons on trumpet, piano and organ as a child. After studying at the Episcopal Church Music School in Trier, he studied choir conducting with Andreas Göpfert and organ with Wolfgang Rübsam at the Saar University of Music .

He began composing in 1989, initially focusing on sacred choral music . Today he also composes lyrical and secular choral and instrumental music .

Alwin Michael Schronen became internationally known mainly through his trip to Kiev in February 2013. There the Academic Chamber Choir Kreschatyk gave a large concert with 12 sacred works by Alwin Michael Schronen, four of which were world premieres, in the presence of the German Ambassador Christof Weil .

The works of Schronen are compulsory choral works in various choir competitions and master choir, performance and concert choir singing (2017 Harmoniefestival Lindenholzhausen, 2015 Cantarode Kerkrade Netherlands, master choir singing 2014 and 2015 in North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate).

Schronen receives composition commissions from well-known choir directors Jan Schumacher , Matthias Beckert , Oliver Sperling , Jürgen Fassbender and Hans-Joachim Lustig and sets a. a. Poems by the contemporary poet Charles Anthony Silvestri and Rainer Maria Rilke, who lives in the United States .

  • 2015: Silver Platter Award for the composition "Power of nature" (8st mixed choir) by the ACDA (American Choral Directors Association).
  • 2014: Award at the "Call for Scores" competition of the "St. Andrews Ensemble for New Music and Choristi Sanctiandree" at the University of St. Andrews, Scotland, Great Britain in collaboration with Paul Mealor for his composition "POWER OF NATURE".
  • 2012: Second prize at the International Composition Competition of the North Rhine-Westphalia Choir Association for the work "An den Mond" (SSAAA).
