The Ensemble Vocapella Limburg is the second youngest male chamber choir of the former Limburg cathedral choir boys and consists of young men from the Limburg region , who have their common musical roots with the Limburg cathedral choir boys and who dedicate themselves to the demanding male choir singing under the direction of Tristan Meister.
The members met for their first rehearsals in 2007. A year later, the official club name and first public appearances followed, which initially took place mainly in the home region of the ensemble. In the meantime the choir has developed an excellent reputation and is regularly invited to concerts and church services at home and abroad. Concert tours have taken the singers to Japan, Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Hungary, Belgium and all over Germany.
In 2012 the first CD with romantic male choir literature was produced and released under the title “In der Ferne”. Excerpts from the CD have already been played and discussed on radio broadcasts in NDR , SR , WDR and HR .
In March 2013 the singers took part in the 14th International Choir Competition in Budapest, where they were category winners with a 1st prize and gold diploma. In November 2013 the choir won the Hessian Choir Competition with outstanding success with the highest total number of points awarded during the competition. At the 9th German Choir Competition in Weimar in May 2014, the Ensemble Vocapella Limburg was again category winner and 1st prize winner. In addition, the choir has won a special prize for the excellent interpretation of a contemporary work as well as a CD production on the Rondeau Production label.
The repertoire of the young male vocal ensemble includes sacred and secular male choir literature from almost all epochs. It ranges from Renaissance works by Haßler or Palestrina through romantic compositions by Schubert , Schumann and Mendelssohn to contemporary works and arrangements, with traditional folk songs also playing a major role in the choir's program.
Ensemble Vocapella Limburg is the fifth ensemble, after collegium vocale limburg, Ensemble Rossignol, Cantabile Limburg and Camerata Musica Limburg , to continue the tradition of the male chamber choirs of former Limburg cathedral boys.
