Alwine von Keller

Alwine von Keller , also Allie von Keller, Alwina von Keller, Alwine Horneffer (born June 10, 1878 in New York , † December 31, 1965 in Interlaken ), was a German educator and psychoanalyst.

Life

In 1890 Alwine von Keller's family moved from New York to Germany, first to Wiesbaden, then to Munich. She first met the reform pedagogue Paul Geheeb around 1897 . From spring 1916 she was a teacher at the Odenwald School and soon became a close confidante of Geheeb.

In 1912 she was involved in founding the St. Georgs Association around the artist Fidus .

Alwine von Keller was first married to Hans Teichmüller, who died in 1898 after about a year of marriage. Her second marriage was to Franz Horneffer, who died of typhus after a short marriage . A third marriage followed with Winfried Köhler, which was divorced again during the First World War .

From 1934 she worked in Germany, England and Switzerland, after the outbreak of war as a student of Carl Gustav Jung in Switzerland. The people she analyzed included Paul Geheeb and Edith Geheeb . She also translated works by Indian masters.
