Am Brill is a location in the mountainous city ​​of Wuppertal .

Location and description

At the Brill lies at an altitude of 150  m above sea level. NHN on the edge of the Nützenberg and is located in the southeast of today's residential district Brill in the Elberfeld-West district . Neighboring locations are Ringelbusch , Am Schaffstal , Hackland , Ottenbruch , Buschhäuschen , Ochsenkamp , Vogelsaue , Auf dem Nützenberg and Briller Höhe .

The local situation is at the confluence of Nützenberger street from the Briller road .

On the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824, the location is shown on the map without any further labeling.

Due to an offer from the landlord Ehrmann, the Schützengesellschaft am Brill , founded in 1805, moved its headquarters here in 1824 and adopted its new name. Ehrmann had common rooms and was also ready to set up a shooting range.

At the Brill, in front of the church

In 1832 Am Brill belonged to the Hülsbeck group of the rural outskirts of the Elberfeld parish . The place, categorized as two courtyards according to the statistics and topography of the administrative district of Düsseldorf , was designated as Am Brill and at that time had three residential buildings and four agricultural buildings. At that time, 29 residents lived in the village, two of them Catholic and 27 Protestant.

On the map from 1843, the location is labeled with Brill . In the 1860s the inn was known as 'Schinkenbrill'. Between 1876 and 1886, the corner property was built over with a building at Briller Strasse 1f , which still exists today and is now recognized as a monument.
