Amadou Meïté

Amadou Meïté (born November 28, 1949 - † February 11, 2014 in Abidjan ) was an Ivorian sprinter .

At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, he was eliminated over 100 m in the quarter-finals and in the 4-by-100-meter relay in the preliminary run.

In 1976 he reached at the Olympic Games in Montreal over 100 m and in the 4 x 100 meter relay the semi-finals.

In the following year, he was seventh over 100 m at the 1977 World Cup in Düsseldorf and sixth in the 4 x 100 m relay with the African team .

At the Africa Games in 1978 in Algiers he won the 100 m, and at the World Cup in Athletics in Rome in 1981 he was disqualified with the African 4 x 100 meter relay.

He set his personal best over 100 m of 10.32 s on March 29, 1980 in Abidjan .

His sons Ibrahim Meïté and Ben Youssef Meïté were also successful as sprinters.
