Amanda Bertha Lindner (born July 7, 1868 in Leipzig , † April 18, 1951 in Berlin ) was a German actress .

Life

She made her debut at the Hoftheater Coburg and belonged to the ensemble at the Hoftheater Meiningen from 1886 to 1896 . In Meiningen she played Joan of Arc in Schiller's play " The Maiden of Orleans " . This production and the acting performance of Lindner, which shaped the Jeanne d'Arc image for a long time, received great attention across Europe. The play was performed 194 times during the Meiningen tours in 1887/88 , 55 of them in Berlin.

From 1896 to 1911 she worked at the Royal Theater in Berlin . Later she played at the Deutsches Theater , where she played Countess Helena in Kleist's Das Käthchen von Heilbronn in 1925 under the direction of Eugen Klöpfer . She also made a name for herself as an acting teacher.

Amanda Lindner did her first major job as a film actress at the age of 64. In the film comedy Ich bei Tag und Du bei Nacht (1932) she played the enterprising former court actress Cornelia Seidelbast, who rents the same room twice. After that, their roles became smaller and smaller. Amanda Lindner had her last film appearance unnamed in 1940 in the operetta adaptation Rosen in Tirol .
