Aumua Amata Coleman Radewagen (born December 29, 1947 in Pago Pago , American Samoa ) is an American politician . Since 2015 she has been the non-voting delegate of the US American Samoa suburb in the United States House of Representatives .

Career

Amata Radewagen is the daughter of Peter Tali Coleman (1919–1997), who was governor of American Samoa three times between 1956 and 1993 . She attended the Sacred Hearts Academy in Honolulu and then studied at the University of Guam until 1975 . She was also at the George Mason University in Fairfax ( Virginia ) and Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles enrolled. In the following years she worked in journalism, among other things. Politically, she joined the Republican Partyon. Between 1997 and 1999 she was on the staff of Congressman Phil Crane from Illinois , and from 1999 to 2003 she worked in the same capacity for JC Watts , who represented the state of Oklahoma in Congress . Since 1994 Radewagen ran for the post of Congress Delegate for American Samoa in every congressional election. In 2014 this project was crowned with success for the first time. On January 3, 2015, she replaced the Democrat Eni Faleomavaega as a delegate. Since she has been confirmed in office twice since then, she is also a member of the 116th Congress of the United States, which met for the first time on January 3, 2019 . Your new legislative period runs until January 3, 2021 with the option of a further candidacy in 2020.
