Amadou-Amath M'Baye (born December 14,  1989 in Bordeaux ) is a French basketball player .

career

M'Baye, whose parents from Senegal also played basketball, grew up partly in France and partly in his parents' home country, where he went surfing before he dedicated himself entirely to basketball at the age of 16. As a teenager he played basketball with the clubs JSA Bordeaux and STB Le Havre , in 2008 he went to the United States and attended the Stoneridge Preparatory School in the state of California , From 2009 to 2011 he studied and played at the University of Wyoming . He then went to the University of Oklahoma , had to suspend the 2011/12 season due to the NCAA's transfer regulations and was then on the field in 32 games for Oklahoma in 2012/13 (10.1 points and 5.2 rebounds / encounter). In the spring of 2013, M'Baye registered for  the NBA draft proceedings , but was not considered there.

M'Baye spent the first three years of his career as a professional basketball player (2013 to 2016) in Japan , where he worked for the Mitsubishi Diamond Dolphins team. In terms of statistical values, the 2014/15 game year was the most successful in Japan when it averaged 23.8 points and 8.5 rebounds per match. In the summer of 2016, the Frenchman moved to the Italian first division side Enel Basket Brindisi and scored an average of 17.7 points for the team in 30 league games. In the 2017/18 season he was under contract with Olimpia Milan , became Italian champion with the team and gained his first experience in the EuroLeague there .

In July 2018 he was signed by another Italian first division club, Virtus Bologna , with Bologna he won the Champions League in spring 2019 . In the final of the Champions League he scored 16 points. The Frenchman left Italy at the end of the 2018/19 season and joined the Turkish first division club Pinar Karsiyaka SK .

National team

In 2009 he took part in the European Championship with France's U20 national team. In 2019 he was appointed to the French squad for the World Cup in China. At the 2019 World Cup , he won bronze with France.
