Amaunet (also Amunet, Amonet ) is an ancient Egyptian deity of Egyptian mythology . She was depicted as a woman wearing the Red Crown of Lower Egypt .

In the primordial circle of eighth gods of Hermopolis , Amaunet is regarded as the female counterpart to Amun , whereas in Thebes she is depicted as a consort of Amun alongside courage . It stands for protection and also embodies the air and the north wind. At the same time she is considered to be the primordial mother and mother of Re as well as of Amun himself. Since she resembles the goddess Neith in this capacity and in terms of her portrayal , a Neith-Amaunet is occasionally found . Amaunet was only inserted into the Egyptian system of gods at the beginning of the Late Period .

In the Greco-Roman times she was together with Amun Chronocrat of the 17th and 18th Schemu II and belongs to the group of Mammisi deities in Dendera .
