Amaury Bier (born March 14, 1930 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a former Brazilian diplomat .

Life

Amaury Bier studied law and social science at the Universidade de São Paulo, completed the Curso de Preparação à Carreira de Diplomata of the Instituto Rio-Branco and entered the foreign service. From 1959 to 1961 he was the third class legation secretary in Warsaw . In 1960 he was temporarily business agent there. From 1961 to 1962 he was the second class delegation secretary in Warsaw. from June 29, 1961 to April 14, 1962 he was again chargé d'affaires there. From April 14, 1962 to 1964, he was Second Class Secretary in Washington, DC From 1964 to 1965, he was Chargé d'Affaires in Port-au-Prince . In 1969 he was First Class Legation Secretary in Kensington, Maryland, Montgomery County . From 1969 to 1973 he was the office manager of Foreign Secretary Mário Gibson Alves Barbosa.

In 1974 he was Assessor de Coordenação do Ministro de Estado (Assistant to the Foreign Minister). From 1974 to 1977 he was Secretary of State at the United Nations Office in Geneva and participated in the Conference of the Committee on Disarmament . From October 18, 1978 to 1990, he was Brazilian Ambassador to the West Indies . Until 1984 he resided in Port of Spain ( Trinidad and Tobago ), the center of the West Indies from the time of the West Indian Federation . In 1985 he moved his official residence to Bridgetown ( Barbados ). On October 18, 1978 he was Chargé d'affaires in Port of Spain and was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Ministre plénipotentiaire in special mission to represent the Brazilian government to celebrate the anniversary of the independence of Trinidad and Tobago. The appointment also applied to the celebration of Dominica's independence in Roseau . In 1980, based in Port of Spain, he was appointed Ambassador to Castries , St. Lucia and Kingstown , St. Vincent and the Grenadines .
