Amazing Red , actually Jonathan Figueroa , (born April 26, 1982 in Cayey , Puerto Rico ) is a Puerto Rican wrestler . His greatest achievements to date have been receiving the TNA X Division Championship three times and simply receiving the ROH World Tag Team Championship with AJ Styles .

Career

Beginnings / Independent

Figueroa started his wrestling career at Impact Championship Wrestling (ICW for short) on January 26, 2001 as a Red . At Combat Zone Wrestling on April 7, 2001, he first appeared as Amazing Red . On April 12, 2001 Figueroa was allowed to win his first title, the PWF Junior Heavyweight Title, from the Premier Wrestling Federation . Together with his two cousins ​​Joel and Jose Maximo, he formed the stable The Spanish Announce Team ( The SAT or SAT for short ). At ICW Figueroa met the former WWE superstar Kaval several times .

On March 27, 2002 Figueroa was allowed to win his second title, the MCW Cruiserweight title of Maryland Championship Wrestling . In 2002 Figueroa feuded briefly against his two cousins.

NWA Total Nonstop Action Wrestling / Ring of Honor

On July 24, 2002 Figueroa first appeared in NWA Total Nonstop Action Wrestling . Figueroa appeared there regularly from now on. At NWA / TNA he was allowed to compete for the NWA / TNA-X title several times, but was not allowed to win it. He also continued to appear in the independent wrestling scene.

On March 15, 2003 Figueroa and AJ Styles won the ROH Tag Team title at the Ring of Honor . At NWA TNA, Figueroa and Jerry Lynn won the NWA World Tag Team title on April 16, 2003.

Japan / Independent

In February and summer 2003 Figueroa appeared as Spriggan in All Japan Pro Wrestling . He injured his knee and had to take a break for 8 months. During this break, Figueroa opened a wrestling school together with his two cousins.

On March 13, 2004, Figueroa returned to Ring of Honor. After his return, Figueroa feuded briefly at NWA / TNA against Sonjay Dutt, who had switched from Combat Zone Wrestling to TNA. At TNA, which had now officially left the National Wrestling Alliance , Figueroa formed a tag team with Chris Sabin from July to September 2004 .

After TNA did not renew his contract Figueroa appeared again in 2005 in independent leagues (mainly at New York Wrestling Connection ). In June 2005 Figueroa appeared twice on TNA and once in November 2005. At New York Wrestling Connection (short NYWC) he was allowed to win the NYWC Interstate title on August 27, 2005.

Career break

On January 28, 2006 Figueroa injured his knee again at NYWC against Javi-Air and took a break. He turned his back on wrestling and found a regular job to recover from knee surgery.

Return / TNA

Figueroa versus Suicide

Figueroa actually wanted to celebrate his comeback at PWU Haunted in March 2008 , but canceled it because the birth of his child was imminent. It wasn't until November 2008 that he made his return to Jersey All Pro Wrestling .

On April 22, 2009 Figueroa returned to TNA and has now performed regularly at TNA. For a short time he formed a tag team with Suicide. Figueroa challenged Suicide shortly afterwards in the course of the new storyline for his TNAW X division title, which he was not yet allowed to win. On October 5th, 2009 Figueroa won this title from Samoa Joe .

On September 23, 2010 Figueroa was allowed to win the X-Division title a second time from Jay Lethal at a house show . He ceded the title to Jay Lethal a few days later.

After sporadic appearances, etc. a. Also known as the masked Sangriento , Figueroa announced on August 4, 2011 that he and TNA were going their separate ways.
