Career

Beginnings / Independent

Lynn began in 1988 with the wrestling . He was initially active in various local wrestling leagues in and around Minnesota.

From 1989 to 1990, Lynn joined the American Wrestling Association . Subsequently, he was employed by the Global Wrestling Federation . During his time in this league, Lynn was also allowed to win the GWF Light Heavyweight Champion title.

World Championship Wrestling / Extreme Championship Wrestling

Lynn first became known to a wider audience during his time in World Championship Wrestling . There he appeared as a masked Mr. JL , especially in the cruiserweight division. A little later, Lynn switched to Extreme Championship Wrestling .

In the ECW, Lynn was involved in an extremely successful feud program with then ECW Television Champion Rob Van Dam . Lynn competed several times under the gimmick The New F'N Show against Rob Van Dam in various title matches. Although he was not allowed to win this, he also made a name for himself in the hardcore scene . Lynn will later say that these were his biggest matches in his career so far and that he only played his only hardcore matches in the ECW against Rob Van Dam.

On October 1, 2000, Lynn was allowed to defeat Justin Credible in the title match for the ECW World Heavyweight Champion title .

Independent / World Wrestling Entertainment

After the ECW went bankrupt in the spring of 2001 and was consequently bought up by the WWE a little later , Lynn went to IWA East-Coast Wrestling at short notice . But in 2001 Jerry Lynn was poached by the WWE and was allowed to win the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship in his debut match .

He left the WWE in the spring of 2002 and subsequently competed in some matches at World Wrestling Allstars .

Total non-stop action wrestling

Then in 2002 Lynn signed a contract with NWA Total Nonstop Action Wrestling . Here he was allowed to become TNA X-Division Champion twice . Lynn was also able to hold the NWA World Tag Team Champion title twice .

In February 2004 Jerry Lynn was seriously injured in the shoulder by Juventud Guerrera . Since then he has mainly worked as a road agent for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling . He planned the matches and trained the younger talents. Occasionally, Lynn was still active as a wrestler. For example Hardcore Homecoming (2005) or No Surrender of the same year.

But Lynn was also committed again by the Independent Wrestling Association and was allowed to hold the title of IWA Mid-South Heavyweight Champion there . He was also seen alongside "Team USA" at the TNA 2006 World X Cup .

On January 14, 2007, Lynn made his official comeback with TNAW. But he was released on August 15, 2007 from Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.

Independent

Lynn competed for the Orlando , Florida- based USA Xtreme Wrestling (UXW) promotion from the fall of 2007 until it closed in 2008 . After the closure of UXW, Lynn was again signed up by the IWA East-Coast and included in their current roster.

At the end of June 2008, Jerry Lynn returned as a regular player to Ring of Honor , where he was allowed to play a few matches in 2004. There he was involved in a feud program with Nigel McGuinness . ROH has had a weekly television show since March 2009, and on the very first edition of Ring Of Honor Wrestling On HDNet , Lynn successfully competed against Delirious in the opening match . Already on April 3, 2009, Lynn was allowed to defeat Nigel McGuinness at the ROH event Supercard Of Honor IV in the main event and thereby win the most important title in the league, the ROH World Title , for the first time . At "Manhattan Mayhem III" on June 13th Lynn then had to defend his title in a Three Way Elimination Match, in which he was initially eliminated by Tyler Black , who in turn had to admit defeat to Austin Aries . Jerry Lynn lost his title to Aries after 71 days, making him two-time ROH World Champion.
